The 2010 Act was a landmark legislation requiring every organisation with more than one employee to establish an inquiry committee for harassment complaints. The 2022 amendment extended protection to all genders (not just women) and broadened the definition of harassment. Complaints are filed with the organisation's internal inquiry committee first. If unsatisfied, the complainant can approach the Provincial or Federal Ombudsperson. Penalties include minor and major penalties ranging from censure to dismissal, plus compensation to the victim.
