APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION / NOTICE OF INTENT TO STAND FOR ELECTIONS

Sir / Madam,

1. That the Applicant is a civil servant of the Government of Pakistan / Province, presently posted as applicant_designation (BPS-applicant_bps) at applicant_posting in the department_name, with continuous service since appointment_date.

2. That the Applicant intends to take part in the forthcoming general / by / local government election to the office of electoral_office_sought for the constituency electoral_constituency, scheduled to be held on election_date.

3. That under Rule 31 of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1964 and Section 232 of the Elections Act 2017, a civil servant cannot canvass, stand for, or take part in elections without resigning or retiring from service. The Applicant accordingly seeks permission and intimates the Competent Authority of the Applicant's intention to take the necessary steps.

4. That the Applicant proposes to comply with the legal requirements as follows: compliance_plan. The Applicant has computed the requisite notice period and proposes to tender resignation / proceed on extra-ordinary leave with effect from effective_date, in advance of the date of filing nomination papers.

5. That the Applicant undertakes not to use, or seek to use, the influence, position, or resources of the public office while being a candidate, and shall conduct the election campaign strictly in accordance with the Elections Act 2017 and the Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

6. That the Applicant has cleared all dues, advances, accountability, and inventory items pertaining to the period of service, and a no-objection certificate from each concerned section is being obtained simultaneously.

7. That the Applicant has no pending disciplinary inquiry, criminal proceedings, or pecuniary liability that would render the Applicant disqualified to contest elections under Article 63 of the Constitution or under Section 60 read with Section 62 of the Elections Act 2017.

8. That the right to participate in the political life of the country is a constitutional right of every citizen, subject only to such reasonable regulations as are prescribed by law. The Applicant approaches the Competent Authority in good faith and undertakes to abide by all such regulations.

PRAYER

In light of the foregoing, it is most respectfully prayed that the Competent Authority may be pleased to:

(a) Acknowledge the Applicant's notice of intent to stand for elections;

(b) Sanction the Applicant's resignation / extra-ordinary leave with effect from effective_date;

(c) Issue the necessary clearance and no-objection certificate at the earliest, so as to enable the Applicant to file nomination papers; and

(d) Pass any other order that the Competent Authority may consider just and proper in the circumstances.
